New Security Courses focus on Security Assessment and NIST Cybersecurity Framework Implementation

Global IT association ISACA has partnered with accreditation institute APMG International to offer two new training courses focused on security. The courses on implementing the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and assessing for security equip individuals with key cybersecurity guidance and the knowledge needed to pass related exams and earn recognition that demonstrates capabilities in these areas of security.

Implementing NIST Cybersecurity Framework Using COBIT 5

Implementing NIST Cybersecurity Framework Using COBIT 5 is a two-day course focused on the Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), its goals, implementation steps, profiles, self-assessment and the ability to apply this information to help manage cyber risk and align with an organization’s broader enterprise risk management program.

The course and exam are for individuals who have a basic understanding of security concepts and are involved in improving the cybersecurity program for their enterprises. The US Cybersecurity Framework, developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), includes COBIT 5 as an informative reference. Basic COBIT 5 knowledge is a prerequisite for this course.

COBIT 5 Assessor for Security

COBIT 5 Assessor for Security is a three-day course to provide training in performing enterprise wide IT process assessments. It is similar in structure to the existing COBIT 5 Assessor course but is security specific. Individuals can apply to become a COBIT Certified Assessor after taking this course and successfully passing the exam. COBIT 5 Certified Assessors have demonstrated experience in planning, building, running and/or monitoring IT processes. They are able to provide reliable, consistent and repeatable assessments of IT process capabilities—which helps IT leaders gain C-level and board member buy-in for change and improvement initiatives. Individuals must pass the COBIT 5 Foundation exam before taking this course.
